Throughout its history, Holy Cross has consistently
been one of the top basketball programs in New England,
and has always been competitive on a national basis. The
Crusaders own an all-time record of 1179-770 in their
first 84 seasons of play, good for a .605 winning
percentage.
In recent years, the Crusaders have established themselves
as the premier program in the Patriot League, becoming the
first team in league history to claim three consecutive
conference championships in 2001, 2002 and 2003. Holy
Cross also advanced to the NCAA Tournament in each of
those season, and has now made a total of 11 NCAA
appearances in its history.
Holy Cross is one of just 16 schools which has claimed a
national championship both in the NCAA Touranment and in
the National Invitation Tournament. The Crusaders won the
NCAA crown in 1947, then went on to take the NIT title in
1954.
Over the years, Holy Cross has had six first team
All-America selections, sent nine players on to
professional basketball and had four players inducted into
the Basketball Hall of Fame.
